Many more links are available from the above websites.

Links to cover the whole world of chess.

Link one is to the Sheffield and District Chess Association, run by Paul Bailey of Sheffield Nomads. All the details of how we and our rivals are doing in the Sheffield League, the Richardson & Woodhouse Cups. Links to YCA website with the grading database for the Sheffield League; accounts of recent events and a games feature. Check out Paul's outstanding Sheffield Nomads website and if you can achieve anything like this level I'd be very grateful for your input.

Link two is to the Derbyshire Chess Association's equivalent. Incidentally, if anyone in Derbyshire wants still more chess than their own club provides, you're welcome to play for us in Sheffield and good chess is guaranteed; but, to be fair to other clubs, you'd need to pay our sub rather than appearing as an occasional ringer.

Link three: the English Chess Federation. Lots of news of national events; the ECF grading list; details of competitions and congresses you can enter and the chance to play chess on the net, this very minute or any hour of day or night, for free, against players in Britain and abroad. This feature comes with a health warning: it's obviously taken over the lives of some participants.

Link four: chessgames.com. American website includes just about every significant game ever played between masters; the chance to chat to players all over the world; up to the minute info on major events all over the world; live chess from super grandmaster tournaments; the revolutionary opening explorer. Some of this costs an annual fee of about $20. A lot is for free.
